The St. Johns Cultural Council is organizing an exhibition to be presented in the Rotunda of the County Administration Building during next year’s 200th Anniversary Celebration, from July 20th through September 30th, 2021. This exhibition will highlight significant people, places, and events during the period 1821 to 2021 and will showcase businesses and organizations operating in the County today.
We invite you to share art, artifacts and ephemera that represent the role your organization has played in the 200-year history of St. Johns County. These items may be works of art that will hang on the Rotunda walls or items that will be displayed in cabinets or on pedestals. The period of loan will be approximately three months, beginning in mid-July. There may also be an opportunity to participate in a traveling exhibition after the closing of the Administration building display.
This exhibition will be promoted widely, both locally and through out-of-county marketing efforts. An exhibition catalog will be published, with information about both the items on display and the organizations represented. Signage and rack cards recognizing participants and sponsors will be placed at the Administration building, St. Augustine and Ponte Vedra Visitors Centers, Public Libraries, lodging places, and participating venues. All sponsors and exhibitors will be invited to and recognized at and opening and a closing reception.
Costs of the 200th Anniversary Exhibition will be covered by the St. Johns Cultural Council through grants and sponsorships. Visitors to St. Johns County and St. Johns County students will be encouraged to attend the exhibitions with opportunities to view the exhibition during evening and weekend hours as well as during regular business hours.
The Administration building is secured 24 hours per day, 7 days a week and is climate controlled. In addition, the Cultural Council intends to procure liability insurance and insurance to protect the items on loan. Each exhibitor will agree to place their items on display for a minimum of 90 days, and will allow posters or rack cards describing the exhibition to be displayed in public areas of their office or venue.
