The St. Johns Cultural Council has announced opportunities for funding local organizations that present arts, culture, and heritage programming.

The Cultural Council administers St. Johns County’s Tourist Development Council Arts, Culture and Heritage Grants with more than $400,000 available to local organizations this year, according to a release.

The grants application portal will open on April 15 and close on May 31 at 5 PM for program funding dates to run October 1, 2022 until September 30, 2023.

According to Christina Parrish Stone, St. Johns Cultural Council’s executive director, this year’s guidelines were modified slightly. A letter of intent to apply is no longer required, and some minor changes to reporting requirements and eligibility for special events were approved by the County Commission.

All applicants, whether repeat or first-time candidates, must attend a grant workshop before submitting an application. This year’s workshops will be at The Waterworks, 184 San Marco Avenue, and are scheduled for April 19, April 20 and April 25.

Parrish Stone added that a grant panel will meet during July to make funding recommendations. There are several openings for volunteer panelists, and local arts advocates are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities will include reviews and scoring of grant applications to provide applicant funding, among others. Learn more here.
