Music and art classes, musical performance, after-school dance instruction, and cultural exhibition projects in St. Johns County receive Arts for All Grants, funded by the St. Johns Cultural Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.
The St. Johns Cultural Council is pleased to announce the recipients of the Summer 2024 Arts for All (AFA) grants. With funding from the St. Johns Cultural Council and the National Endowment for the Arts, these grants support local artists and arts organizations and provide greater access to high-quality arts for residents of St. Johns County.
The July 2024 grantees are:
RubiMusic – This AFA grant provides an educational program that introduces the arts to expand art activities for the community of St. Johns. The goal is to combine the arts and music as a complement to the creative process with classes and seminars by professional artists. Classes will be held at The Arts Studio at St. Augustine Beach with exhibitions at several art galleries in downtown St. Augustine.
Yael Dray, Musician – Free flamenco and world music performances featuring Spanish guitars, vocals, percussions, and flamenco dancers will be held at The Waterworks and the Plaza Gazebo. Performances will also occur at several assisted living facilities in St. Johns County, Florida.
ACCORD Civil Rights Museum – AFA grant funds will support museum enhancements that enrich visitor interaction through upgraded multimedia and digital experiences. This includes integrating audio, visual, and personal media devices to elevate the visitor experience.
Gift of Dance Gives Back – This “mobile” dance program serves 250 students, 40% of whom are in Title 1 schools, through after-school dance classes. Grant funds will provide scholarships for tuition and assistance with purchasing costumes for those in need, thereby opening the world of dance to students who otherwise would not have the opportunity.
Depending on funding, SJCC hopes to continue the Arts for All Grants in 2025. Click here for more information on AFA Grants.
