The St. Johns Cultural Council is pleased to announce the recipients of the Fall 2021 State of the Arts (“SOTA”) Grants. These grants, presented annually, are available through funds raised by the sale of “State of the Arts” specialty license plates and have provided more than $130,000 of support to arts organizations and individual artists in St. Johns County.
The most recent grantees are:
A Classic Theatre – SOTA funds will support A Classic Theatre’s 2021-2022 productions of plays including The Dining Room, The Sisters O’Toole, No Exit, and The Immigrant.
Boys and Girls Club –This grant will provide art supplies for the St. Augustine Boys and Girls Club.
Flagler College / Crisp-Ellert Art Museum – This SOTA grant will fund costs of the Exhibition Magic, Mirth and Mortality: Musings on Black Motherhood, a collaborative project of the Crisp-Ellert Art Museum, the St. Augustine Historical Society, and the Lincolnville Museum & Cultural Society.
Resilience: Black Heritage in St. Augustine – This grant will support a collaborative event designed to celebrate the cultural and historical heritage of St. Augustine’s Black community.
Saint Augustine Concert Band – SOTA grant funds will help the St. Augustine Concert Band present its 2021-2022 season of public performances.
Sebastian Middle School – This SOTA Grant will provide funding for a printmaking project for 400 middle school students, led by local artist Heather Hagy.
