Are you a ballet dancer who has always wanted to dance in The Nutcracker? Saint Augustine Ballet will hold open auditions for their eighth annual production of The Nutcracker on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Abella's School of Dance. Abella’s is located at 1711 Lakeside Avenue, Unit 9, in Saint Augustine, Florida 32084. All dancers, male and female, who are currently studying ballet are encouraged and invited to try out for a part. Auditions are open to all students of ballet regardless of dance studio affiliations.
Registration will start at 8:30 a.m. Dancers must be eight years old by September 1, 2016. Auditions begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. Auditions for female solos will be done on pointe. A non-refundable $25 fee audition will be charged at the time of registration. Please bring cash or checks made out to Saint Augustine Ballet. An audition for the roles of Angels will be held on another date to be announced.
All female dancers must bring a 4” x 6” photo in First Arabesque to the audition. Male dancers should bring a photo in 6th position. Proper ballet attire is required: black leotard, pink tights with hair in a bun for females; black pants and white shirt for males. Once cast, there is an additional non-refundable performance fee of $175 that covers master classes with guest artists, costume rental with fittings, and cast t-shirt. Once cast, dancers will receive a rehearsal and performance schedule. They must be prepared to commit to the weekly Saturday rehearsal schedule from August, to December and the pre-performance rehearsals held the week of December 12, 2015. Four performances will take place on Saturday, December 17th and Sunday, December 18th.
