It’s the perfect partnership! The “Fresh Starts” cooking class at St. Francis House, led by Executive Chef Ted Kowalski of FCTC, will be simmering up some tasty fare on March 19th for this Saturday’s First Annual Low Country Boil & Beer Fest. The savory scent of fresh shrimp, corn, sausage and potatoes will be simmering at The St. Augustine Municipal Marina, next to the Bridge of Lions starting at 11am.
“Fresh Starts” is a partnership of First Coast Technical College and St. Francis House, the only housing crisis center between Jacksonville and Daytona. Four times each year, Chef Ted teaches six SFH clients the fundamental culinary skills needed for employment in the food service industry. The current class will be preparing the food for the Low Country Boil. Also on the festival menu is BBQ chicken, beer, water and soda.
Admission is free and there is a nominal fee for food and beverage. All day entertainment is planned with seating under the big tent. The Low Country Boil & Beer Fest will be at The Marina on Saturday, March 19, 11am-7pm. Southern Promotions & Events is organizing the event. Part of the proceeds benefit St. Francis House in St. Augustine.
