CREDIT UNION MAKES MULTI-YEAR COMMITMENT TO ST. JOHNS COUNTY CULTURAL EVENTS
At a news conference held yesterday, the St. Johns County Cultural Events Division, St. Johns Cultural Council and the Tourist Development Council announced the Sing Out Loud Festival, the largest free music festival to ever be held in St. Johns County. Community First Credit Union will present the Sing Out Loud Festival through a three-year commitment – its largest monetary sponsorship ever made in St. Johns County. The Sing Out Loud Festival will feature over 100 free performances by local and national artists staged throughout St. Augustine over the course of three weekends in late August and early September.
“The Sing Out Loud Festival is a true St. Augustine celebration of music that spans as much of the musical genre spectrum as possible, showing the world what this community has to offer. We proudly offer this festival at no charge to music fans of all ages and musical tastes in partnership with Community First Credit Union, the St. Johns Cultural Council and the Tourist Development Council,” said Ryan Murphy, director of the St. Johns County Cultural Events Division.
Community First Credit Union has been a longtime sponsor and partner with the St. Augustine Amphitheatre supporting the annual Night Owl Cinema events as well as many years of December to Remember festivals and concerts. The multi-year commitment to the St. Johns County Cultural Events organization will help support the inaugural and subsequent events that would not be as large without private support.
“Community First is proud to make this commitment to St. Johns County,” said John Hirabayashi, CEO and president of Community First Credit Union. “Community First is especially proud of the work done by the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, a community treasure itself which continues to build larger and more impactful community-focused events each year. When we heard about Sing Out Loud we knew we could help support a locally-focused community event that will bring enjoyment and entertainment to attendees while giving local acts a chance to shine like never before.”
The Sing Out Loud Festival is a celebration of musicians and songwriters from the great St. Augustine area as well as internationally-recognized artists. Beginning Friday, August 26 and running through September 11, 2016 the community, music fans and visitors are invited to attend over 100 free performances held at various stages including the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, the Backyard at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, the Colonial Quarter, the Downtown Plaza, and more. Official Sing Out Loud After-parties, hosted by Narrow Magazine, will be held at Planet Sarbez and Nobby’s. All concerts are free and open to the public including the Main Showcase featuring GRAMMY-nominated and award-winning performers Brandi Carlile, Indigo Girls, Booker T. Jones and The Travelin’ McCourys which will be held at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre on September 9. While all events are free and open to the public, music fans can secure reserved seats to the September 9 Main Showcase by donating $5 to OneOrlando via TicketMaster or by reserving a Sing Out Loud Hotel package with one of the dozen partner hotels. Details on securing the reserved seats will be available online at www.singoutloudfestival.com.
The Sing Out Loud Festival will be produced by the St. Johns County Cultural Events Division, which owns and operates the St. Augustine Amphitheatre and the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, in partnership with the St. Johns Cultural Council and the Tourist Development Council and will be proudly presented by Community First Credit Union.
“The Sing Out Loud Festival is an all-inclusive celebration of music. It encompasses as many musical genres as possible, from the guy with a laptop kicking out crazy electronic music to the five-piece Americana jam session. To offer this celebration of music to the community for free is exceptional and it is truly due to the commitment to improving the quality of life through the arts by Community First Credit Union as well as our partnership with the St. Johns Cultural Council and the Tourist Development Council,” said Murphy.
The Sing Out Loud Festival is the feature event of the Sounds of Summer Celebration, a variety of arts, culture, music and entertainment events scheduled for August and September in St. Augustine and Ponte Vedra. Sounds of Summer events include the Sing Out Loud Festival, Castillo Centennial celebrations, the Spanish Wine Festival, Lincolnville Festival, film and performing art productions, culinary, walking, sporting and arts events among many others.
