St. Augustine, FL (Sept 9) - The St. Augustine Art Association invites artists to submit works into the 14th Annual Tactile Art Show, a juried exhibition of touchable art on display October 2 - November 1, at 22 Marine Street.
Entries may include sculptures, assemblages, pottery, fiber art, reliefs, kinetic art, wall hangings, woodworks, textured canvas, interactive art and other mediums. Artwork must be both visual appealing and engaging for the blind with no sharp edges.
The exhibit, which is part of the international Art Beyond Sight initiative, also features Braille signage produced by students at Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind. This year, the exhibition takes on greater significance as the nation marks the 25th Anniversary of the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Artwork may be delivered to the St. Augustine Art Association on Tuesday, Sept. 29, noon to 6 p.m. or Wednesday, Sept. 30, noon to 4 p.m. Up to three entries may be submitted by each artist for a fee of $15/per piece for members or $35/per piece for non members. Student discounts apply. Awards for outstanding artistic achievement will be presented at the opening reception on Friday, October 2.
