Abella’s School of Dance Offers Weekly Dance Intensives All Summer Long

For dance students who want to sharpen their skills, or, for those who are new to dance, Abella’s School of Dance will be offering weeklong Dance Intensives all summer long. The classes start on June 8 and will run weekly throughout July. All sessions are open to both new and experienced dancers from eight to eighteen years old. “The intensives are structured to improve and advance technical, artistic, and performance skills and we have an exciting roster of excellent teachers,” explained Luis Abella, owner and instructor at Abella’s School of Dance, “ The short sessions also allow new students the chance to try a week and see if dance is something that interests them.”

The June Dance Intensives will meet Monday through Thursday from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30p.m.. Students will receive instruction in ballet, pointe, contemporary, Latin jazz, choreography, and conditioning. The cost is $150 per week. Additional morning classes in beginning to advanced pointe and tap will be offered from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at an additional cost of $50 each per week or only $25 each per week if you register for the afternoon session.

Dance instructors will include Abella’s newest instructors, Cuban trained dancers, Daet and Margit Rodriguez; tap teacher extraordinaire, Jenne Vermes; ABT Certified Teacher, Luis Abella: and Puerto Rican trained classical ballerina, Lisa Santiago.

The weeklong July Dance Intensives start on July 6 and will run from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Students will receive instruction in both ballet and contemporary dance. Cost is $125 per week.

A special Ballet Master Class with Orlando Molina will take place July 21 through July 23. Orlando studied at the National Ballet School of Cuba and has had a professional career that has taken him around the world. He has since become a well-respected ballet instructor and has trained several students who have gone on to the finals at the Youth America Grand Prix, the world’s largest ballet competition. Orlando is an American Ballet Theatre Certified teacher and the School Principal at the Georgia Ballet in Atlanta. Cost for the Ballet Master Class is $150.
