Call for ROWITA Lifetime Achievement Award Nominations

The St. Johns Cultural Council is collaborating with a number of local arts organizations to celebrate Women’s History Month in March 2010. As part of this year’s celebration, we will once again be awarding women in the arts community an annual lifetime achievement award, the ROWITA. (Recognizing Outstanding Women in the Arts)

The Cultural Council, The National League of American Pen Women - St. Augustine Branch, The Tale Tellers of St. Augustine, Jane’s Stories Press Foundation, Cyprian Center for the Expressive Arts and the Limelight Theatre are calling for members of the community to submit nominations of outstanding women who have made significant contributions to the St. Johns County arts community.  

To nominate an individual, please submit a one page letter to the selection committee that includes the following information:

• Nominee’s name and contact information (e-mail, phone number, address)
• A brief history (background) of the artist
• Community impact of the artist’s work, contributions, leadership, etc.
• Accomplishments, awards, special recognitions
• Arts advocacy  initiatives
• Your contact information (e-mail, phone number)

Optional materials that may be included with the nomination include:

• Photograph of the nominee
• Press/media clippings

Nominees must be residents of St. Johns County. Lifetime achievement will be one of the most important criteria for determining the final four selections. Artists of all disciplines, including literary, visual, performance, music are eligible.
